CSB Christ Chronological
This past weekend our campus ministry had its first Mug & Muffin of the school year! Mug & Muffin is a time for women on campus to spend intentional time together learning more about God, His Word, and how to apply it to their daily lives. 25 women gave up their Saturday morning (as in…they woke up early!!) to drive to our home, enjoy coffee and muffins prepared by the staff women, and spend time learning together! It is always sweet to see our home filled to the brim with students laughing, talking, and getting to know one another! And it is so refreshing to see growth in my own life of being able to welcome large groups into our home without worrying about things getting broken (it happens), the carpet being spilled on (amazingly it didn’t happen actually!), and the cleanliness of the house (still in that fatigue stage of pregnancy so…if there are dishes in the sink that’ll just have to do.) The Lord has grown my heart for hospitality so much over the past year (check out my review on The Simplest Way to Change the World for a great hospitality book suggestion)!
Relationships are always a popular topic with college aged women, and we saw an incredible opportunity to use Mug & Muffin time this semester to talk about our relationships with God, other women, guys, and even ourselves (especially in this age where emotional and mental difficulties plague the college campus.) It made sense for our first Mug & Muffin to dig into what it looks like to have a growing relationship with God because our relationship with Him serves as a foundation upon which we can healthily build relationships with others and ourselves!
It is impossible to talk about developing and growing a healthy relationship with the Lord without talking about Scripture. The Word is the information He chose to reveal to us about Himself, and allows us to better know about the loving God we get to serve! With the women, we talked about how to analyze and apply a passage of Scripture, how to spend time in prayer and meditation, and how to create and structure a daily, intentional time in the Word with God.
The CSB Christ Chronological is a great tool for digging more deeply into the Word, and would make a great addition to any resource library! The four Gospels are placed side by side in chronological order to help readers better view and understand the stories and instruction found in the Gospels. For example, the account of the transfiguration of Jesus is found in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Being written by different authors, the account naturally takes on different writing styles and author’s voice depending which Gospel you are reading the account from. Having the ability to see these passages of Scripture side by side without flipping back and forth in my Bible or flipping from tab to tab on an online Bible site is so helpful!
AND this book is beautiful! I was surprised to see the listing price so low when the quality of the book itself is so high! The square shape of the pages is unique and fun, and I love the use of color. Each Gospel has a corresponding color, so when seeing the passages side by side it is easy to distinguish Matthew (blue) from Mark (green) from Luke (orange) from John (purple) just by the color of the text. The layout is easy to read, reference, and understand, and I love the CSB translation that is used!
CSB Christ Chronological would be a great resource addition to any library! It makes studying the differences and similarities of the Gospels so easy and interactive!
