Over the last two years, there has been a huge focus on building community and a call for women to be vulnerable in their friendships. This movement has grown rapidly, as more and more writers and bloggers have written resources on this very subject. The most recent resources published on this topic, Craving Connection: 30 Challenges for Real Life Encouragement, was written by the (in)courage community. The (in)courage community was founded in 2009 by DaySpring, the Christian products subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, Inc.
Who is (in)courage? “At its core, (in)courage is a friend that comes alongside you. We aren’t offering a quick fix for your struggles, but rather, a community and the life-giving tools to equip you right in the midst of the chaos. Through blog posts, book clubs, one-of-a-kind products, and sharing encouragement through all our social media channels, our heart is to help every woman build more meaningful relationships and find herself among friends.”
Craving Connection categorizes the thirty challenges into three sections: 1) Connecting with God more deeply, 2) connecting with friends more purposefully, and 3) connecting with community more intentionally. The thirty challenges are written in a devotional format which include a key Scripture reference, devotional, a list of connection questions for personal reflection, a connection challenge to encourage you move from reflection to action, and a prayer.
