“The Curious Christian” is written by Barnabas Piper, and oh my, is this an awesome book!
Over the past year, I have been striving to return to a sense of wonder, the feeling of magical days and special moments, and going back to a child-like way. I have read a couple books and many articles on this very topic, and am so happy to have come across this one. To be curious is to be open to possibilities, looking for magical moments and creating and seeking beauty wherever you may go, close or far.
We live in a day and age where people are constantly on the go and they no longer even notice the little things. They have no hunger or desire to be curious, or to wonder at the world around them. Think of all you miss out on when you live like this! God created a world filled with such amazing things and beauty at every turn and glance, and I firmly believe that He wants us to fully enjoy and take pleasure in it. And that means being curious.
Being curious is not being childish. It is not being immature. It is not showing stupidity or being naive. In fact, it is the exact opposite of all those things. This book pointed to so many of these beautiful points. Being curious honors God because it is a direct way of worshipping Him. We are dwelling in His beautiful creation and living in such a way that shows His majesticness. And we all need a bit more of that in our day!
