This fall I had the opportunity of leading the Wednesday evening Women’s Ministry Bible Study at our church. The previous Bible Study we all went through together was on the topic of Biblical Womanhood and the twelve attributes of Biblical Womanhood we find in Scripture. This semester, I thought that it would be beneficial to revisit the topic of Biblical Womanhood by taking a deeper look into several women in Scripture. Throughout the Bible Study, several women were asking about resources that they could purchase on their own to continue their study on different women of the Bible. I had a few suggestions that I used in my research such as Life Lessons from Women in the Bible by Rhonda Harrington Kelley, Touched By Greatness: Women in the Life of Moses by Dorothy Kelley Patterson, and All of the Women of the Bible by Edith Deen. These are all great resources and include discussion questions if you were to lead a small group. However, one resource that I wish I had at the time is 31 Women of the Bible: Who They Were and What We Can Learn from Them Today.
31 Women of the Bible: Who They Were and What We Can Learn from Them Today features 31 concise and quick biographies of important women throughout Scripture. Each woman has a two-page biography, the Scripture reference where we are introduced to her in Scripture, the life lesson or what we can learn from her, and discussion and ‘food for thought’ questions. This small resource is a perfect study tool for a brief overview or refresher. With full-color and illustrations on each page, this is a great gift for any woman wanting to study Biblical Womanhood and how the women of the Bible can teach life lessons today. Many Bible study resources are expensive and too large to carry around to the coffee shop or library. However, 31 Women of the Bible is the perfect size to throw in your purse and priced at under $15. This is definitely a quick reference resource you must add to your bookshelf.
