I have had the opportunity to look at a lot of different Bibles for children. I tend to be picky as to what I am looking for when I see a Children’s Bible. I don’t really look to see if it’s visually appealing but I do know that many children are drawn to Bibles that look beautiful on the inside and outside. Because of that, there are many different types of Bibles in the market for kids, from journal Bibles to Bibles with comics in them, and many things in between.
For my purposes, I did leave this Bible out on the counter to see if my 7 and 9 year old children would pick it up. The cover is very bright an d colorful. Sure enough, my 9-year-old son asked if he could have that Bible. So if anyone is wondering how appealing it is to the eye, maybe that will help guide your decision!
Inside the Bible are more colorful pages in the front. I love the topics that fill those colorful pages: How can the Bible help you? Studying your Bible, Bible Skills, Test Your Bible Knowledge, Favorite Bible Stories, and How Do I Have Quiet Time with God? Sprinkled throughout the Bible are also extra inserts that cover different topics, like the Books of Law, Diagrams of the family of Abraham, the family of Jesus, maps, the names of God, and so much more. I feel like the editors really put some thought into what would be best to put onto these colorful pages to guide them in their Bible Study. I found myself just staring at the maps. To be honest, they were the first pages I turned to when I opened the Bible because I wanted to know what was on them! There is a lot of helpful information, extra verses about topics and so much more.
The Bible itself is written in the Christian Standard version. It is on a child’s level, but I like it because there are some passages that it helps clarify for me. The font is written bigger so they can move their finger along and not get lost. The only other thing on the page are footnotes for a few verses.
This is a great Bible, especially if you’re looking for one around the age of a 7-9 year old child. I can’t say if an older child would like it because I don’t have one. However, I do know my children have fought over whose Bible this will become!
I received this Bible free from B & H Publishers and Lifeway in exchange for my honest opinion of this Bible.
