Kaleidoscope—everyway you turn it, new beauty.
Christ, the kaleidoscope revealed of infinite God. God, infinite in beauty SPEAKS. “But in these last days, he has spoken to us by HIS SON…the radiance of the glory of God” (Heb. 1:2-3). Jesus, the revealed in finite of the infinitude of God. Jesus but yet a God-Man with innumerable names. Do we know this Jesus, the Lion and the Lamb, the Carpenter and Creator? Have we sought to meditate on his names?
Diann Cotton does so in her devotional 100 Days with Jesus. In one hundred days she invite us to mediate on the person of Jesus. One hundred names. One hundred different, radiant facets of the infinite God, a kaleidoscope of discovery into his beauty. Each day has a verse, a simple definition, and then an awe-struck exploration of how that name unfolds who the Son of Man is and who is he for us. Each day ends with a personal application or thought. One hundred beautiful pictures accompany, revealing the God who speaks in his Son and who speaks in creation and beauty. It is a feast for the eyes, heart, mind, and soul.
With the hundreds of devotionals out there, why this one? It is about Jesus. A. W. Tozer’s words ring true, what you think about God is the most important thing about you. It is in Christ that we will find transformation, more than mere application, or positive thinking, or a feel-good thought at the beginning of the day. Diann Cotton of Austin Stone is very apt to deliver such a gospel-centered devotional.
