Exalting Jesus in John (Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary) by Matt Carter and Josh Wredberg is a very enlightening Christ-Centered exposition of the book of John. This book is sure to increase readers understanding of Jesus Christ, based on the way He was presented by the Apostle John.
This is the first book in the ‘Exalting Jesus’ series that I had an opportunity to read. I honestly did not know what to expect prior to reading this book. I wasn’t sure if was going to be similar to a study Bible commentary that provides verse by verse exposition of the Scriptures or something different. It’s definitely something different and I was pleasantly surprised by the way the content in this book was presented and how Jesus is explored by the authors.
I found this book to be a very helpful companion while reading the book of John. It provided loads of valuable insights and enlightened me on many things that I never had a full understanding of. I was glad to have this commentary near by while reading.
This is a very unique expository resource. It is not the typical verse by verse exposition of Scripture. The authors tend to address themes that are presented in multiple Scripture verses and share their personal insights on them. One of the features that I really enjoyed in this book is the ‘Reflect and Discuss’ section. It provides multiple questions for readers to reflect on the things they read and helps to ensure that they have an understanding of the concepts and information that was presented.
I believe this book is sure to be a great resource for ministry leaders, teachers and students of the Word of God who are interested in learning more about Jesus Christ. I’m looking forward to checking out more books in this series too. I definitely recommend this valuable and insightful series!
I received this book free from the publisher through the BH/LifeWay book review bloggers program and I was not required to write a positive review.
