This Bible contains the complete text of the new Christian Standard Bible, a revision of the Holman Christian Standard Bible. In addition to the text, this kids’ edition features 40 full-color pages of study helps and maps. These include introductions to each category of Bible books (Law, History, Prophets, Poetry, etc.) and the individual books within each category, as well as special features on various topics (the names of God, the days of creation, prayers in the Bible, etc.). At the beginning, there is a special section on how to study the Bible, how to have a quiet time, a three-level Bible skills assessment, and more. This Bible also includes a brief topical concordance, a “Where to Turn When…” section, and tables of weights/measures in the back. The words of Jesus are in red and the font is similar in size to large-print Bibles.
The CSB is new to me, and without commenting on the actual translation, this looks like a good basic beginners Bible. The colorful cover is eye-catching, and I found the study helps and maps interesting. Nothing about this Bible is particularly “childish,” other than the use of the word “kids” on the cover and the one-page “kids in the Bible” feature, so really it would be good for anyone. I would be glad for my children to use this Bible when they are old enough to read.
I received a copy of this Bible from the publisher in exchange for my review.
