In Experiencing God’s Word through Expository Preaching, the authors take pastors from every experience level on a journey through many hermeneutical and homiletical truths. The authors not only address topics that you would expect in a book on expository preaching such as addressing Biblical context and the need to read the scripture well but also address how the preacher must allow the Spirit to lead them and must how they must keep their character together in such a way as to not affect his preaching. Two thing that the authors address that after often vilified in most expository preaching books but that the authors say have their place are preaching through books of the Bible versus jumping around and also topical preaching. I love the fact that the authors address that each (jumping around from book to book and topical preaching) when done properly can still be expository preaching. I cannot recommend this book enough to pastors, preachers, evangelists, and even those who want to learn more about hermeneutical and homiletical practices. Great book!
