We absolutely love look and find books in our home. A is shockingly good at them and I really enjoys doing them. We also enjoy doing them as a family. That said, when I saw this book was available, I had to jump on it knowing that this would be an excellent way to add a level of hands on learning when teaching the kids about the Bible. We were right!
The book is a large 8.3 x12 book with a hard cover and pull out flaps. The cover is a “soft” like hardcover that makes it a squeezable texture. While this is a nice touch tactile wise for little hands, it does effect durability a bit making it easier for dents and issues throughout the cover edges. The pages are rounded which I really like for this book, the only downside to that is the three panel flap curves upward into the middle making a little more vulnerability for tearing. I feel like this is
The pages itself are well done with bright colors and beautiful illustrations. The first page is a paraphrase story of the Bible Story that gives the core details of that section of the Bible in a manor that is short and easy for the child to understand and remember. Once you are done reading the story, you pull that flap out to discover the items to find in the illustration.
The hide-and-find pages make it fun for your child to look deep into the illustration and find key parts of the story, as well as, fun extras. The list of items to find is able to be used with a dry erase marker for easy tracking. Having the ability to cross of the items adds an extra level of appeal to this book, especially with the ease of wiping them off for the next time.
The items for discovery are presented in two ways. Some of the items to find are images, which is perfect for those that aren’t quite reading yet and are doing the book alone. This also gives the child a visual idea of what they are looking for. In addition to the images your child is looking for, there is a list of items in word form for them to discover. I feel like the variety makes it fun and versatile for the age groups allowing this Bible Look and Find to be good for ages 4-10.
