I was recently given the A Moment to Breathe devotional and I love it. It doesn’t take long to read, each devotional is a short one page relatable story. There are multiple authors so it’s nice to get a variety of writing styles and perspectives. It’s a pretty book and is a smaller size so it’s easy to tuck it on an end table or night stand, somewhere that is a normal part of your routine. Each daily devotional ends with a small focus for the day. Sometimes it is a prayer focus, sometimes a call to action, and sometimes just a reminder that there is so much beauty in the world around us. And I love the name. Because it’s true, we all sometimes just need a moment to breathe, a moment to recenter ourselves and find an intentional focus for the day.
My only negative to the book is that it is a 365 day devotional. I’m just not a fan. I think because there are so many good devotionals and studies out there that it is hard for me to commit to one for an entire year. I do like they pages are not marked by month and day. This makes it easy to just pick up and start from the beginning instead of starting in the middle and then forgetting where you started. Or is that just me, because it has happened multiple times!!
