I was so excited to get a opportunity to review the Spurgeon Study Bible, after receiving I used it as my primary study bible for a month to get a good scope on this Bible. In this review I will cover some factors that really impressed me about the Bible. Thanks to B&H Publishing for sending me a copy of this to review. What really sets this bible apart is the content & design, those are the real features I will talk about today!
The Bible is in the new Christian Standard Version which is standard for all Bibles coming out of B&H publishing. It has footnotes, comments, and portions of Spurgeons notes on pages talking about different parts of scripture. What makes this bible unique is that all of the notes and footnotes are all from Charles Spurgeons commentaries and writing. So if you are a fan of Spurgeon this is the Bible for you. If you are looking for more variety of notes this Bible might not be for you. I really loved the notes they really helped me understand the passage though Charles thoughts and writing.
The Bible comes in a hardback, leather soft, and leather body, and even at the hard cover its beautiful because it’s a cloth bound book. Its very durable and looks visually good! Inside its multicolor page layout to help you navigate different parts of the Bible. I will say that some of the quotes and articles are in cursive. As a person who cannot read cursive well it was difficult, but it really visually was nice! The layout gives you a great look at who spurgeon and is very nice to read.
Charles Spugeon has been considered one of the greatest preachers ever, so having a bible with his notes is so amazing. Especially when it’s a man who had a special gift to preach the bible to over a million people. I highly recommend this bible, its beautiful, it makes a great gift to pastors too! The bible comes at a variety of prices from $30.00 and up
