She Reads Truth is like two memoirs put together with the goal of pointing the reader to the real Jesus found on the pages of Scripture. The stories in this book cover so many topics like dealing with the death of loved ones and the mental illness of loved ones, divorce and love and marriage, the tendency to strive and the need for grace, the realities of parenthood and hardships of financial strain, losing children and losing hope, and all of them share the gospel. All of them testify to the faithfulness of God and the permanence of His Word.
My favorite thing about this book was not that the stories were encouraging (although they definitely were), but it was that each story encouraged me to be in the Word. Each story reminded me of the ways God has proven Himself faithful in my own life and reminded me to never lose sight of the ways He proved Himself faithful throughout the ages and on the pages of His Word. There were times I was a bit distracted with how it jumped around between topics and between authors, but overall I would definitely recommend this book. It would make such a wonderful gift!
In a time where bookstores are overflowing with books declaring things less than the truth of the gospel, She Reads Truth is refreshing. A book that testifies to the timeless truths of Scripture and unashamedly affirms God’s faithfulness and goodness and love and omnipresence is so needed and so appreciated. Raechel and Amanda shared their hearts and vulnerably invited the reader into their stories. I am grateful for their voices and their ministry and their book which speaks truth with grace and love.
